I have been absent from the blogging world for a little over a week now, and for that I am very sorry. I was busy just – you know – getting engaged!
On Saturday, August 24th, my boyfriend got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! So, I am going to tell you how it happened.
Adam took me hiking at a small mountain about an hour away from where we live. We took the dog and we hiked up the side of the falls and the dog looked like a mountaineer jumping up on rocks. It was a beautiful day – sunny and the perfect temperature. But that’s not where he proposed.
We kept hiking about another 3 miles to the very top of the small Maryland mountain. It was an amazing view so there were several other groups. We had decided to take a long break at the top because my dog was exhausted and needed an hour-long nap. So we picked a rock to sit on and we watched some salamanders crawling around and the clouds roll by while the dog snored near by.
Eventually the other people went on their way and Adam asked me to stand up for a second. He pulled a white, small, square box from his backpack and got down on one knee! Exactly what he said to me will stay between me and him, but he told me how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend forever with me. Of course I said ‘Yes!’
My dog ended up scraping her paws pretty badly and we ended up having to take turns carrying her half of a mile back to the car.
Every moment was memorable and it was absolutely perfect. I didn’t have the reaction I thought I would – that hands-over-the-mouth, I-can’t-breathe reaction. It was more of the I’m-paralyzed-with-excitement-and-shock-and-that-includes-not-being-able-to-breathe. In other words, I was more excited than I always imagined myself when someone proposed, just not as cute!
