“Baby it’s cold outside.
I’ve got to go away.
Baby it’s cold out there.”
But I’m sure that you’ve already discovered that if you’ve even glanced at your social media feed out of the corner of your eye for the briefest of seconds. That’s really not the weather about which I want to talk.
It’s the ugly Maryland weather in general. Just this past weekend the ground was covered in snow. Everything seemed to be pure, white, and untouched. If you looked closely though, you were able to see a slightly blue tint from the sky’s reflection. It was absolutely beautiful.
But then the rain came. The snow started melting and the few remaining mangled bodies of once vibrant orange and red leaves were uncovered. They were clinging to the grass – the way they were when they took their last breath.
The green grass- it was flattened and matted into the brown, cold ground.
I had to put away my purple hat and scarf and bring out the raincoat. That’s when I got sad.
Then came yesterday. That’s when it was bitter cold and there was barely a snowflake on the ground to remind me why I usually love the cold so much. It was just the frozen, icy remains of the snow.
