Well, I went missing again. Apologies. I think I’m suffering from exhaustion. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve been coming up short with stories. I am not embarrassed to admit that this morning I went to Scholastic’s Story Starters to try to come up with an idea. I’m supposed to write a story about a rude troll who rescues an oversized ladybug. Here’s some bad news: my imagination is off today. We’ll save it for another day.
I did so much this weekend that when I woke up on Monday I had a sty (which is essentially a pimple) in my eye. Apparently you can get those from exhaustion and eye make up getting in the glands on the inside of the eyelid.
The Friday before Easter we went backpacking. We camped and then woke up the next day and went climbing on some rocks. We backpacked back to the car. It was great fun.
Of course when we got back, the next days was Easter and I had 4 dishes to make for 2 different family gatherings: a birthday cake for the booboo, fresh squeezed juice, hash brown casserole and green beans with bacon.
None of it was particularly difficult except:
- My juicer broke. An orange rind shot up a little harder than it was supposed to and cracked the housing. I now have about 10 pounds of apples that are un-juiced.
- The stove caught on fire. I was sautéing some corn flakes for the top of the hash brown and then – whoosh – flames. The smoke detector started going off and I was trying to smother the flames and trying to clear the smoke away from the smoke detector so that the entire apartment complex didn’t get evacuated. I managed. Eventually.
- I dumped 1/2 a gallon of orange juice on the floor.
I went to at 10:00 that night and get up early to get to church. It was a full day and even going to bed at 9:30pm didn’t help me recover properly.
Thus, I have a sty.
I haven’t been able to exercise because I’ve had to wear my glasses instead of my contacts and I can’t exercise with them on.
My laziness has been elevated to a whole new level.
