Day 3 and on were not written in Colorado, so you’ll have to excuse me for anything confusing. I’m relying on month-old memories.
On Day 3, my sister finished up her sophomore year of college! She took extra credits this semester just to make sure that she could come out and properly celebrate my wedding this fall. She’s pretty great.
We celebrated with some breakfast and then some shopping and just hanging out with my sister. We don’t get to do that very often, but hopefully my moving to Colorado will change that.
She had to work that day, so she headed to work and I met up with her later which was really exciting. She works for Wendy’s. And when I say that she works for Wendy’s, I mean that she is Wendy. Confused??
Yeah. She is Wendy!
It gets even better.
I’m so proud of her for embracing this job and making the most out of it. Plus, she’s making more than I did when I got my first job out of college. Good for her!
I headed up to Denver and caught the Rockies game with the fiancé and his friend/co-worker who had just moved to Colorado a few weeks before. When I say that we caught the Rockies game, I mean we were in the stadium at the bar in the upper deck drinking and – due only to the extreme crowdedness of the bar – we saw probably a total of 1 inning of baseball. (That’s being generous.)
On Saturday, fiancé and I went APARTMENT HUNTING! (I said that in my best Oprah voice. That’s how it’s supposed to sound.)
We searched and searched all morning and the 4th one we looked at was home. It’s a second floor apartment overlooking the floor. And get this (this is why I love Colorado already): our future home has a bar built in. These are the important things in life. It’s in a hoity-toity gated community. Pinkies up! Psych. It’s just so I feel safe when walking Mir pup at night by myself.
Saturday was move-out day for my sister. We did a lot of heavy lifting, but we were able to set her up so that all she had to do was slide her belongings from the closet across the hall to her summer dorm. Litterally across the hall.
For dinner, we decided to do the touristy thing and go to Casa Bonita. It’s a Mexican restaurant that has…I want to say it was supposed to be a rain forest theme with pirate shows and gorilla shows. Yeah. My sister found something to enjoy about it though. It was not the food.
We were eating in between odd shows and my sister looks up and just says, “Oh.” I’m quite familiar with that reaction from my sister. I looked up and saw exactly what I expected to see. Fiancé looked up and was surprised. There was a guy with no shirt on and he was quite my sister’s type. It’s one of the things that makes her uniquely her and why I love her.
We didn’t finish our food, because we were sharing one bathroom between the three of us that night. We didn’t want to reenact that scene from Bridesmaid. “It’s happening.”
Sunday was spent at the Denver Zoo. I don’t really want to talk about it because the elephants were bobbing their heads and pawing at the ground which means they are depressed and they had just built a new exhibit and it made me so sad and I can’t handle it.
But the weather was nice. All those people saying “there’s no humidity” are absolutely right to be bragging about it. It was 85 degrees and I didn’t have sweat stains everywhere when I walked outside. It was amazing. It was 85 degrees and this redhead didn’t melt.
And then we went home.
