And by catch up, I mean let me catch you up on everything that has been going on lately in my life since I’ve been so absent from yours lately.
We’ll go way back.
The day was June 7, 2014. I awoke at 5:30 am to prepare for my day. I left the house at 6:30 with bags and bags and boxes in my hands and headed off to P. High School to proctor the SATs.
As always, proctoring the SATs made me feel really old. The last time I proctored I made the mistake of telling a soon-to-be fellow alumnus of my high school the year in which I graduated. (Did you follow that sentence?) To which she replied: “Whoa! That was awhile ago!” Thanks kid.
This time, I realized that all of the juniors taking the test were born in the year 1997. Yes, you read that correctly. 1997. And that means that the sophomores taking the test for the first time were born in 1998.
Do you remember where you were in 1998. I do. Because I was definitely not an infant then.
So I got out of the SATs a little early that day because I had the SAT subject test and got to bounce out a little early because I had a bunch of slackers in my test who only wanted to take 2 subject tests. (That’s totally allowed, so no need to report me to any board.) I did have one kid who looked like a bit of an over-achiever so I was a little nervous that I was going to have to stay for all three tests. Luckily, she only took 2 as well.
Time to move forward. I was on to wrapping that really awesome present that I got for the baby shower. Remember? I told you about it way back in time. Well… I wrapped it.
Then I helped set up a little for her baby shower.
Then we had lots of sangria. (Except for the mama-to-be.)
Then we ate.
And watched mama open some of her her presents.
And then played a game or two.
And then she opened some more presents.
And then we played a game or two more.
AND THEN SHE OPENED MY AMAZING GIFT!!!
Ready? You get to open it too.
IT’S MINATURE CAPITALS GEAR! HOW FREAKIN’ PRECIOUS IS IT? (The sweater on the far left is mine. I included it for size comparison.) I seriously hope my cousin likes it, but it’s more of a concern to me that I actually just see Baby in the jersey because LOOK AT IT. It’s too tiny! I think she likes it because she posted a picture of it on Instagram and gave me a shout out!
Also, I knitted baby a Capitals colored blanket.
Lastly, I made it over to a housewarming party for some friends of ours. I’ve been to the house before and I can tell you that the Miss has wonderful decorating taste. But when I walked in, it was like a page out of Good Housekeeping or HGTV. It was a picturesque party. I wish I had longer to spend there, but I ended up going late because it started at the same time that the shower did. Still, it was superb.
Sunday we went for dinner in Annapolis after spending a relaxing day at the pool. It was a belated birthday dinner celebration for my Mommy and my fiancé. It was one of the last fresh seafood dinners the fiancé will have as we are delivering him to landlocked Colorado next week. You gotta take the bad with the
good superb. But we’re stocking up on the oversized cans of Old Bay this week. Taste o’ home.
Monday I found out that my knee might actually be under control. I’m not positive yet, but my right knee has been behaving and not filling with gallons of fluid for about a month now. The left knee still had the cyst, but I got it drained and we’ll see where it goes from there.
The rest of the week was somewhat peaceful. We hit up an Oriole’s game on Wednesday and chilled the other days.
Except Friday. We had our going away party on Friday and there were a lot of people there. Friends and family came to see us off…kind of. We’re still in Maryland for another week. It tried to rain on our party a little bit, but it passed quickly and we had a nice, lovely evening that was just perfect for standing around a fire and chatting about the good ol’ days and reflecting about how much people will miss us. Just kidding about the last part.
Finally, I had a concert first on Saturday. I saw Willie Nelson…with my grandfather! I’ve seen Willie Nelson before, but I have to say that – other than seeing the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra – I’ve never been to a concert with any grandparent. Now I have.
And Willie Nelson is just straight up impressive. This 80-something-year-old man just singing and playing the guitar. The man is awesome.
And that’s about where we stand. I think you’re all caught up. Because other than that, I’ve just been binge-watching the World Cup and sleeping. I’ve been working on wedding stuff. We’re getting into the fund stuff now – finding stuff for wedding favors and other little decorations. Maybe I’ll let you all know how awesome my wedding was after the big day. Keep your fingers crossed.
